Books...books...books...

I am not a feminist. People are equal regardless of race, gender, and sexual orientation in some aspects, but I believe each of the above categories have certain things they are biologically better at doing. Some people are born "more able" than others. Facts are facts.

Now:
Everyone is obsessed with the new series 50 Shades of Grey.
First of all: REALLY PEOPLE?? This is a book about a virgin girl who falls for a manipulative man who changes who she is. Okay, fine that's how many stories go... BUT this deals with BDSM.  Do these women realize what would really happen if they went through some of the things Anastasia does?? This book is NOT healthy for female image.

Instead I have created a healthier summer book list:

  1. One for the Money: The Stephanie Plum Series; by Janet Evanovich
  2. In Cold Blood; by Truman Capote
  3. Crime and Punishment; by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
  4. The Picture of Dorian Gray; by Oliver Wilde
  5. Angels & Demons, The DaVinci Code, & The Lost Symbol; by Dan Brown
  6. Bourne Trilogy; by Robert Ludlum
  7. Harry Potter; by JK Rowling
  8. The Great Gatsby; by F Scott Fitzgerald
  9. Catch 22; by Joseph Heller
  10. Cold Mountain; by Charles Frazier
  11. A Tale of Two Cities; by Charles Dickens
  12. Brave New World; by Aldous Huxley

Books/series I'm planning to pick up:
  1. Hunger Games; by Suzanne Collins
  2. Schindler's List; by Thomas Keneally
  3. The Help; by Kathryn Stockett
  4. The Color of Water; by James McBride
  5. The Poisonwood Bible; by Barbara Kingsolver
  6. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close; by Jonathan Foer
Happy Reading!!
